Mimic

What is a mimic?

A mimic is a browser-based graphical representation of data items. These data items can come from any source (for example, a database or device) and are accessed via 'Gateways' on Whzan. Each data item is associated with a 'Datapoint' on Whzan (either defined by you or already existing on the Whzan server).

When the gateway detects a change in data value it will update Whzan which in turn will update the datapoint. Any mimic which references the datapoint (in displays, calculations, history, alarms, etc.) will then also be updated. Likewise if a data point changes in Whzan it will be sent to the gateway which will update the device. Mimics are created using the Mimic Editor (a mimics editor like many others). Objects, such as shapes, images, charts, alarms or animated widgets can be added to a mimic. Each item has properties such as color, height, opacity etc. and many of these properties can be tied to data values.
As an example, you could try tying opacity to a Boolean variable, when the variable is on the item will be shown and when it's off the item will be invisible.

Below is an example of a simple mimic representing data from a capsule sorting/counting process.
